Dear faculty members,
Welcome to join G-MEO Chengdu American Center faculty team. We are happy to have you. You will enjoy Chengdu, known as the "Country of Heaven" (天府之国), and students from diverse background. G-MEO staff from NY team and Chengdu team are here to help you 24/7. Below are some materials required from g-MEO prior, during, and after your teaching in Chengdu American Center. We highly appreciate all faculty members' effort and contribution. In together, we believe we can provide a life-changing studying abroad experience to all students.
Please use the sample syllabus as a template for your own course. It is important to insert the right name, contact information, email address and other pertinent details. Within the template, please schedule the progression of topics or units for the duration of the course. Also, please confirm that your grading criteria conform to the enclosed template. Thank you.
Please use the enclosed form to request mail delivery of the textbooks for your course. Two sets of books will be delivered. One is for the instructors use. The other is to be submitted to the office in Chengdu, where staff will make the books available in the library in case student copies are lost or stolen. Please be sure to fill out all sections of the form. Thank you.
The enclosed pre-departure guide is included here for your benefit, to help you adjust to living and working in China this coming semester. We will also have a pre-departure orientation session for faculty, and this guide is designed to complement that orientation. Thank you.
Please use the student grades template as a model for your own record keeping, which will be submitted to us shortly after the end of the course. The template is designed as a sample; that is, each instructor will have different criteria, a different number of columns, and other modifications, but there should be a clear indication of the student’s final grade as a percentage sore out of 100. To this end, the final grades can submitted either with an Excel or Word file. Finally, please enter these grades on a keyboard, and not by hand. Thank you.
Please consider the elements of these evaluations when designing the content and style of your upcoming courses. These will be the forms students will use to evaluate courses. Keep in mind that these evaluation forms are not to be administered by instructors but instead by staff. The forms are included here to provide a sense of the elements considered important for instructor success. Thank you.
What a wonderful opportunity to live and work in China for a while. Chengdu is a beautiful city with friendly people, relatively easy transportation, and absolutely delicious food. The staff at our center work very, very hard to make sure any technical problems with the classrooms or one's living arrangements are addressed as soon as possible and are also their simply to help us maneuver through a foreign language and culture. The interaction and bonding with students is much more of mentor and friend as we travel together and perform other activities as a group. If you are thinking about taking this opportunity to experience China, do it.

I had good students in the economics classes this summer and enjoyed teaching the two courses in such an excellent facility that g-MEO is using in Chengdu. Jingyu and other employees at the Chengdu American center are excellent administrators and went out of their way to facilitate my staying in China and teaching the two courses. I would like to thank you for providing the opportunity for me to teach the econ classes in there for a second year.
