G-MEO Scholarships

G-MEO Chengdu Award (AMOUNT DEPENDS ON THE PROGRAM DURATION)
The amount is 25,000 RMB (approximately $3,600) for the 3+3 Study-Intern program,15,000 RMB (approximately $2,200) for semester programs, 10,000 RMB (approximately $1,450) for summer internship program, and and 5,000 RMB (approximately $730) for summer sessions. The scholarship will be granted upon successful completion of the program in China (including being physically present in Chengdu throughout the program duration.)
- Eligibility:
- - Non-Chinese citizens
- - Available for all Chengdu programs (Internship programs included)
- - Must complete the program
- - No application is needed
- - Chengdu program only
G-MEO Chengdu American Center Assistantship Program ($900 – $1,800)
This is a merit/need-based Scholarship provided by G-MEO. The scholarship ranges from 6,000 to 12,000 RMB (approximately $900-$1,800) in total paid in monthly installments while students are in Chengdu.

- - GPA ≥ 3.0 at the time of program application
- - Pell Grant recipients
- - Semester programs only
- - A 500-word essay is required
- - Financial Award Letter
- - Deadline: 4/15 Fall, 11/15 Spring
G-MEO Chengdu American Center Travel Grant ($500)
This is a need-based scholarship for student demonstrates financial need. The recipient will receive up to $500 to assist their trip abroad.

- - GPA ≥ 3.0 at the time of program application
- - Semester programs only
- - A 500-word essay is required
- - Financial Award Letter
- - Deadline: 4/15 Fall, 11/15 Spring
G-MEO Merit Based Scholarship ($500)
All students participating in the summer programs will be considered for the $500 merit-based scholarship upon submitting the program application. This amount will be deducted directly from the program fee.

- - GPA ≥ 3.3 at the time of program application
- - No application is needed

Summer Friend Referal Grant ($150)
If a G-MEO student who is attending a future program refers a friend who also decides to attend, will receive $150 off the program fee. *One student cannot be referred by more than 1 person (regardless of CA or other student or alumni). The student needs to define who is his/her referral

Other Scholarships You Can Apply For
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program
The scholarship supports U.S. undergraduates of high financial need at 2-year or 4-year U.S. colleges or universities to study or intern abroad. Awards are granted for fall, spring, and academic year terms of up to $5,000 or $8,000 for studying a Critical Need Language, such as Chinese Mandarin.

Boren Scholarship and Fellowship
Funding from the National Security Education Program (NSEP) supports U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to study less commonly taught languages in regions critical to U.S. interests including Asia. Up to $20,000 is awarded to undergraduates. Recipients commit to work in the federal government for at least one year after they graduate.

The Fund for Education Abroad
The scholarship awards up to $10,000 in summer, semester, and academic year and are not limited to specific study abroad programs, destinations, or fields of study. FEA will award funds for students planning to study abroad on academically rigorous programs with a preference for underrepresented students.

Freeman Award for Study in Asia
The scholarship is provided to U.S. students studying abroad in East or Southeast Asia that demonstrates financial need. Students can be awarded up to $3,000 for summer and up to $5,000 for semester programs.
